Cub Scout Basics

Pack Web Site:               Our calendar and other information can be found at www.cub123col.org

Meetings:         Please see schedule or Pack 123 schedule.

Registration:    $55, due at the September 21, 2006 pack meeting.  $35 for second, $30 third, Cub Scout.  This covers national registration, Boys’ Life magazine (1 per household), registration for adult leaders, pinewood derby kit, program supplies, and snacks.

Uniform:  Each Cub Scout should wear the appropriate uniform.  Uniforms may be purchased at the Scout Shop, 1005 Mediterranean Blvd., Columbus (near The Continent.)  The shirt is required; the pants may be from the official uniform or St. Michael’s uniform pants.  Caps are optional. Each rank is slightly different:

Tigers – Blue shirt + orange neckerchief

Wolves – Blue shirt + gold neckerchief

Bears – Blue shirt + light blue neckerchief

Webelos – Either blue shirt OR tan shirt with blue epaulets + plaid neckerchief

Cub Scout should be wearing full uniform to Den meetings and Pack meetings beginning October 1.

Handbook:       Each Cub Scout should have his own handbook for his age group (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos) to mark his advancement.  Available at the Scout Shop.

Advancement:  Our goal is 100% rank advancement for each Cub Scout each year.  For Tigers, Wolves, and Bears, the parents and den leaders may sign off on advancements.  For Webelos, only the den leaders may sign off.  We will work to see that every young scout receives the correct awards as promptly as possible. Therefore, it is important for the den leaders to turn advancement information in to our Advancement Chairman in a timely manner. Recognition and advancement is a big part of building scout character and enthusiasm. This helps our boys grow and remain excited about scouting every step of the way.

Any questions concerning the presentation of an award, beads, belt loops, arrows, or rank should be discussed directly with your den leader. Our advancement chairman reports to the Simon Kenton Council Buckeye District Advancement Chairman through your Committee Chairman. Any questions, concerning advancement records, attainment, presentation and/or errors should be discussed with your den leader who if necessary will present any unresolved concerns to the Advancement Chairman and the Cub Pack Committee Chairman. Our goal is to recognize advancement and accomplishment and provide opportunities for growth and success in scouting each year.
